Fans of the tech giant have been left in shock after hearing the price of Apple’s new augmented reality headset, with the price tag making the audience audibly gasp at the firm's latest conference.
While the new headset may upon first glance look like a pair of ski-goggles, it’s got a whole range of features to help you immerse yourself in virtual reality.

Announced at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference 2023 (5 June), CEO Tim Cook explained that the Vision Pro has a full 3D interface with the device being controlled by your hands, eyes and voice.
Though he joked that the device was ‘…the first Apple product you look through, and not at’.
You can also switch between augmented and full virtual reality by using a dial.

After being unveiled, some claimed the new tech gave off Black Mirror vibes, similar to the dark Netflix series – which often gives an unsettling look at humanity in the near future.
In fact, some have drawn comparisons to the tech seen in ‘Playtest’, a Black Mirror episode about Cooper – a man who tests a virtual reality game only for it to access his deepest fears.
Several Twitter users agree, with one writing: "We [are] one step closer to that one Black Mirror episode."
Another said: "Anyone else getting Black Mirror vibes right now with the Apple VR headset presentation?"

But it seems some were left more shocked by the price point of the tech.
Set to retail for $3,499, the cost of the Vision Pro prompted the audience to gasp at Apple’s WWDC23 event.
Having heard the eye-watering price, one Twitter user joked about the device’s ‘add-ons’ saying: “Is the snorkel included?”

Another, still in shock at the price, wrote: “Is that 34.99...”
However, some Apple devotees defended the headset’s cost, saying: “The first VHS players that came out would cost $3500 dollars in todays money. Yet people still managed to buy them in droves.”
Despite this, others were still unimpressed, with one user replying: “Even if that was correct, a vhs player could be enjoyed by multiple people at once. This is just for one user at a time.”
You can decide for yourself when the device hits stores early next year.
